Description : | Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role) Support the the development, maintenance and communication of:Risk Appetite / Stress testing / Regulatory risk Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas: Regulatory Risk : Work in close liaison with HSBC Middle East business in the area of Basel II and Risk Analytics. The job will entail working on statistical analysis, strategic research, MI generation, Model development, monitoring and validation, Portfolio Segmentation with regard to supporting audit requirements, ensure process documentation. The following deliverables are expected from the position:§ Take full ownership towards executing IRB model development (PD,LGD and EAD), monitoring, reporting, implementation, reconciliation with Finance, Independent reviewer and Audit and resolving any regulatory queries§ Support to develop a consulting culture within team that seeks out opportunities to expand & deepen relationships with existing clients § Cross team coordination to provide end to end business support§ Take an active role in initiatives outside of own role; proactively seeking different assignments to accelerate learning§ Uphold the highest level of integrity and act as a role model for all HSBC values and business principles§ Participate and critically review existing process, standardise and share within analytical functions Customers / Stakeholders · Build and maintain (in compliance with agreed protocols) a constructive relationship with the FSA and other regulators · Develop strong working relationships with businesses and functions. Teamwork· Working effectively with other team members to ensure projects and reports are effectively coordinated. Operational Effectiveness & Control · Ensure that all reports and processes under the job holders control are adequately documented, controlled and monitored; Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holders abilities): Regulatory Risk - Understanding and responding appropriately to different policy drivers: regulatory initiatives; industry objectives; Group interests; Group entity/business interests and developments in their risk portfolios; evolving risk assessment methodologies Stress Testing - requires a strong understanding of the underlying drivers of risk and the ability to translate these drivers (and forecast changes to these drivers) to risk capital models, often to short timeframes as scenarios are developed. Risk Appetite - drive through solutions to successful conclusion and to ensure that the risks are being properly managed and risk appetite is embedded properly Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority): Regulatory Risk - The role is located in GMO and has Group-wide reach owing to the departments global responsibilities, the status of FSA as the Groups lead regulator, the universal application of Group standards and policy, and the international adoption of Basel II Stress Testing - The role holder works with considerable degrees of autonomy, taking ownership of stress scenario models within Group policy and under the auspices of the Group committees overseeing both functions Risk Appetite - jobholder is required to provide judgement and proactive initiative regarding the risk appetite framework Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role – not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.) · 0-1 years of work experience in financial or banking domain · Experience in facing / preparing for independent review and/or audit will be an advantage · Post Graduate degree in Statistics, Economics, Operation Research and Management or any other relevant numerical discipline · Strong quantitative aptitude, problem solving and coding skills · Knowledge of statistical techniques, SAS, SQL and Microsoft Office · Excellent written and oral communication |
